Gallia County Local Schools

News Release:  For Immediate Release

Recently, the Gallia County Local School Board, along with students, administrators, contractors, and architects broke ground on a new addition to River Valley Middle School.  The District is using the interest from dollars designated for new construction, along with ESSER funds (Covid money) to pay for much of the cost of the project.  The District is proud to build these new facilities at NO additional cost to the taxpayers, and to create new opportunities for their staff and students.  The classroom portion of the project will feature five classrooms, additional dining space, a science lab, and a media center. Additionally, the school will have a new field house which will accommodate the entire student body and serve as a great resource to the community.  River Valley Middle School will become a building educating students in grades five through eight, with 5th grade and 6th grade on one side of the building and 7th and 8th on the opposite side of the building.  This setup will allow the grade levels to be separate so there’s very little interaction between the two groups.   This additional space will be an asset to the district in many ways including reducing overcrowding issues at Addaville and Vinton elementary schools.

Superintendent, Phillip Kuhn stated, “There are many great things happening in the Gallia County Local Schools, and this is certainly one of them.  The district will soon be breaking ground on the South Gallia campus to add a medical facility to help serve students and members of the community.  That facility will also be at NO additional cost to taxpayers, but paid for by the Appalachian Community Grant.
